January Newsletter Piece in the Valley Quilt Guild

Pauline Warner is our new President for 2010. Cindy Gardner. be over the program this year and started the meeting by giving an overview of some upcoming events. Next month we will learn needle turn applique taught by Jan Dutson. On April 8th we will have a class on maintaining your Feather Weight machines. Our garden Party will be in August at Carol's house and we will have all day sews in June and July. On September 9th we will have Barbara Walsh teach a class to us on organizing your sewing space. We will also have Marsha and her "Side Kick" from the Corn Wagon come to teach an applique block. This class date will be announced later. This sounds like a fun filled and educational year ahead!

Winners of this years UFO contest:

2nd place with 12 finished quilts went to Pauline 25$

Call Shanda Bishop if you have questions about the treats. Holly Nissen will have a table to display non quilt items that you have sewn this year so start gathering! Holly Dutson will put together a table of antique quilts. Let her know if you have anything to contribute. Jane Ekins is in charge of the Luncheon.

Ann Morgan- Utah Quilt Guild

She also has applications to turn in to the State Guild if you are interested in being an instructor to teach other quilt guild in the state. Contact her for more info. Pauline added that she received $25 from the Utah Quilt Guild to use for Prize Money.

UFO Incentives- for this year will be a variety of cute stitching and paper piecing patters with thread to go with them, so everyone keep working on all of those UFOs!

Show and Tell incentive- Holly Dutson has organized a fabric line of Layer Cakes to give away for everyone who brings Show and Tell this year.
Thanks to Pauline and Holly for organizing this year's incentives!

Block of the Month- Julie Hayes
Julie will be giving a pattern every month to those who would like to make a block of the month. Everyone who makes a block can enter to win all of the blocks!
The blocks this month should be made from a Whimsical print.
An additional idea she gave would be to make one more block for yourself at home and them make a sampler quilt with all of the blocks you make.

Program
Our program was on how to access the newsletter on the Sew Mama's Blog as well as how to post and comment on the blog. We also saw some of the fun quilt blog links attached to our blog. We hope everyone will post something on the blog this year!

  4. I love being able to see all the pics but after looking at them I want to go home and start one like Joyce Jensen's with the scrappy four patch in the center and scrappy borders around it for each block. I want to start the one like my daughter and I made and I want to get going on the one like Cindy's that I have kitted up. I really have a sickness but I don't want to be cured.
